Resumo: This study is the observation corpus Nova Magazine, will be analyzed five copies of the magazine published in 2011, with the purpose of pointing out through the publication of how the contemporary woman is represented. The media sets up a phenomenon of modern society, being a producer and disseminator of information, precisely because of its importance in the construction of social space that we chose to study how the media portrays a female figure. The choice of corpus is due to the fact that the magazine is a media tool of great popular acceptance that allows us to (re) thinking about the woman called contemporary, which discursive and imaginary are meant to her, how that reflected contemporary mode of acting, thinking and feeling feminine. Does women's magazines produce or reproduce the words female? Women are portrayed by women's magazines and are standardized by them? The choice of Discourse Analysis of French origin as a theoretical apparatus occurred precisely because the discipline dialogue on the subject's relation to society through discourse, because it aims to understand the conditions of production of words and how these words are set in such way sociocultural context, the discourse analysis is presented as a means of understanding the structure of society, the power relations that directly influence the movement of discourses. We aim to portray the general or even expose the speeches made on women and the contemporary woman, and do so through the editions published by the New Journal in 2011; specific objective we intend to point out what are the discursive formations that drive female discourse and how these discourses construct a female image. The research included a literature review and an analysis of data, qualitative and comparative. Inside the case will be mentioned dissertational theorists like Saussure, Benveniste and Pecheux, but this research is based on two theorists: Foucault and Charaudeau. Foucault by numerous theoretical contributions in the field of AD and Charaudeau formulated theories about the media from the perspective of discourse analysis.
