Resumo: The aim of this study was to evaluate the self-perception of dental aesthetics and their dental appearance on the psychosocial well-being of young adults. One hundred and nineteen individuals of both genders were selected, with healthy anterior and inferior teeth with no direct or indirect restorations, splinters or fractures, without periodontal pathologies, diastemas or crowding or history of orthodontic treatment or trauma. To assess the self-perception of dental aesthetics, the volunteers used a visual analog scale (VAS) assigning a score from 0 to 10, with 0 being the worst possible aesthetic and 10 being the ideal aesthetic. Afterwards, the volunteers answered the questionnaires about the impact of oral aesthetics on quality of life (Oral Aesthetic Subjective Impact Scale, OASIS) and on psychosocial well-being (PIDAQ). The data were subjected to statistical analysis (Mann-Whiteney and Kruskal-Wallis U tests (a= 0.05). It was observed that the majority of volunteers assigned a score considered high in relation to their self-perception of dental aesthetics both by the scale EVA and the OASIS questionnaire, with no significant difference between self-perception of dental aesthetics and demographic data (gender, age, race and body weight). There was a significant association (p <0.05) between impact on quality of life (PIDAQ) and dental EVA and between PIDAQ and OASIS, for the domains D2-social impact, D3-psychological impact and D4-aesthetic aspects. It could be concluded that self-perception regarding dental aesthetics can generate an impact on your psychosocial well-being and your quality of life The expectation and perception of aesthetics from the patient's point of view must be taken into account for rehabilitation and aesthetic planning.
