Resumo: | This thesis presents a study of the coevolution of the socio-technical system based on circular economy initiatives for the transition to sustainability. The overall objective was to understand the circular economy initiatives that drive the transition to sustainability in the craft beer production chain. Thus, it began with a literature review of the approaches to the coevolution of the socio-technical system, circular economy and sustainability. The coevolution aspects of the socio-technical system in this study involve the institutional, social / cultural, organizational and technological elements, which in constant change promote the coevolution of the whole system. The circular economy approach was analyzed at the level of the technological niche that includes actions for reuse, recycling, redesign, remanufacturing, reduction and recovery (6Rs). Sustainability had environmental, economic and social elements as a requirement. This thesis was developed in articles, which means that each chapter makes up part of the study. In chapter 02, the terms were analyzed in order to contribute to the elaboration of an integrative theoretical approach to sustainability, therefore, the 8 stages of the meta-synthesis proposed by Hoon (2013) were used as a method. The result of this analysis proposes that sustainability: comprises, applying the 6Rs in the system as a whole, promoting changes from production to consumption, from a regenerative model in a coevolutionary and simultaneous movement. The objective of chapter 03 was to analyze the circular economy initiatives that contribute to the process of co-evolution of the socio-technical system of the craft beer chain in Guarapuava-PR. The coevolution of the socio-technical system was based on the model of Gaziulusoy and Brezet (2015) and the 6Rs of the circular economy in Jawahir and Bradley (2016), based on these constructs, a field research with a qualitative approach was carried out. This methodology used the technique of content and document analysis. Data collection involved 11 in-depth interviews with the actors belonging to the sociotechnical system, as well as the analysis of 74 national documents. The results show that the circular economy initiatives result in the coevolution of the sociotechnical system, since, in institutional, social / cultural, organizational and technological elements, norms that govern the operation of the brewery were detected, as well as the optimization of resources and disposal right. Chapter 04 aims to understand how the transition to sustainability has been happening in craft breweries in GuarapuavaPR, this article had as its principle the circular economy initiatives and the sustainability tripod. The results show that the transition to sustainability can occur as a consequence of circular economy initiatives at the niche level that build over time a process of coevolution of the socio-technical system, thus, the entire system is modified. It was also found that the socio-technical system is based on three complementary dimensions: incentive policy initiatives, partnership of actors and; circular economy initiatives. Which means that the craft beer sector, even inserted in a system considered new, is on the path of transition to sustainability. Finally, the study had as limitations the immersion in the field, period of existence of the system. Thus, it is proposed that studies be carried out in mature systems, in other sectors and with a central theme the transition to sustainability. |
