The purpose of this dissertation is to study the representations of the environment through the Transamazônica Highway images built in news programs of TV Globo between 1970, when it began to be built until 2011. This period was chosen because the target is the Globo Repórter programs that has programs on the subject since 1970, the last in 2011. The choice of this theme was because of the significance of the Amazon to the globe – “lungs of the world” – and the enormous environmental impact of the Transamazônica -meant and still means. Moreover, it was a great project of military regime, 1964-1985, with wide media coverage and official propaganda showing that tear the immense forest would be the solution of national problems.
