This study seeks to foster discussion of art books, from a study of the history, aesthetics and the constitutive aspects of this media. It is appropriate that the choice of topic was given to understand comics as art forms that are running through the most diverse cultures, civilizations and times, also reveal a rich tradition. As art, are subject to review and considerations. The objective that guided the study was to present a discussion about language and the elements of artistic expression in history books, looking for the essence of its form and how it differs from other ways of telling stories, whether literature, painting , film and other. The specific objectives undertaken reflections on concepts of art, aesthetics, to evaluate the artistic production investigated from the theoretical assumptions. Tried to spell out some of art history books, as well as their different names, and characteristics of their language, aiming to identify contextualize this art. He embarked on the elaboration of analysis, from what is called “comicness”, a genre of comics in particular, the genre of superheroes, the saga titled Civil War, articulating the assumptions developed in theoretical corpus, highlighting the literariness of comics, including those classified as “commercial”. The methodology was developed as the theoretical assumptions of the literature. Resorted to as reference books, magazines and articles on the subject, beyond the work itself, presented in proper format of comic books set in the Brazilian market. The development of this study shows that despite the various mechanisms that promote some volatility to create and edit the work, the comic can, from their language, represent works whose plots, characters, images with effects and promote values beyond the niche commercial and artistic where it is located. .
