Resumo: Innovation is increasingly present in everyday life and impacts more and more people, whether through computers, cell phones or other technological devices. In a study carried out with students between 14 and 18 years old, an increase of their autonomy, freedom and privacy through the use of these technological innovations was perceived. Organizational culture is a set of basic assumptions about the collective action of a particular group and if they are well structured and with good results, these are passed on to the members of the organization as a way of proceeding, thinking or acting in relation to the situations and influencing in their decisions. Thus, the general objective of this study is to investigate the impact of the elements of culture, represented by the distance of power and individualism versus collectivism, that may be influencing the use of technological innovations by students of public and private high schools in the city of Florianópolis . To achieve the proposed objective, four specific objectives were identified: (a) identify the elements of culture that characterize the students of the public and private schools of the cities of Florianópolis; (b) characterize the differences and similarities of the culture of the students of the public and private schools of Florianópolis; (c) identify the influence of culture on the adoption of technological innovations of students of public and private schools in Florianópolis; (d) compare cultural similarities and differences, and the influence of culture on the adoption of technological innovations by each group of students. For this, a quantitative descriptive transversal research was conducted in schools of the public and private network of the municipality of Florianópolis, capital of Santa Catarina. The sample consisted 250 students from the state network and 250 students from the private network and the data were analyzed using structural equation modeling. As a main result it was noticed that the students of the public and private education network have a similar profile, being individualistic and with low power distance. In addition, it was concluded that individualism is directly related to the adoption of technological innovations, since the distance of power has no statistical relation with the adoption of innovations.
