Riassunto: This research analyzes the trajectory of lay teachers in the municipality of Chupinguaia/RO in the context of the region's formation in the face of migration and colonization actions during the 1980s and 1990s. The aim is to understand the public educational policies that contributed to the development of education, the Logos II Project, the Fênix Project and PROFORMAÇÃO. More specifically, it seeks to understand how they worked, what the subjects wanted and what improvements and advantages the professionals, now qualified, obtained after completing these initiatives. It highlights the duties of the educators in the day-to-day running of the schools and in the multigrade classrooms, as well as their strength within the community vis-à-vis the municipality's political and religious leaders, the participation of parents, who often carried out work that was the duty of the state, which was negligent and did not do what was necessary, and school dropouts due to the long distances traveled, both by the pupils and the teachers, on roads with very poor conditions. To this end, the composition and colonization of the state of Rondônia, its historical, cultural and social aspects are first contextualized, from which it is possible to understand the regional cultural diversity. In order to understand this, historical moments in the region are emphasized, starting with the unbridled invasions of the Iberian colonizers, the rubber cycles, the construction of the Madeira-Mamoré Railway and the telegraph lines, as well as the paving of BR-029, now BR-324. With that said, the historical formation of the municipality of Chupinguaia/RO, created on December 27, 1995, after a plebiscite in favor of its emancipation, is highlighted. In methodological terms, documentary sources are used, such as official documents, decrees, magazines and photographs, and, above all, oral sources, collected through interviews with members of the community and lay teachers in the region. In this way, all the setbacks experienced by the teachers become apparent, from their daily lives in the schools to their commitment to their training. The lack of commitment on the part of the competent bodies and the difficulties faced by the whole community in relation to education are evident, and these are still reflected today.
