This study had as purpose to dimension and implement a domestic sewage treatment system using a frenchbuilt wetland, in an experimental station, in order to provide the correct handling of the effluent discarded by the university restaurant of the Federal Technological University of Paraná Londrina campus. This system is an economical option for the treatment of effluents, since the plants, together with microorganisms and biological mechanisms are responsible for the removal of organic matter, as well as nitrogen and phosphorus, producing effluent that meets the standards of release into the environment. This work was developed from bibliographic research, dimensioning and execution of a French system of built wetlands, on a pilot scale in an area adjacent to the restaurant of a university campus. After the implementation of this system, it was started, adopting operational conditions below the design recommendations, with a hydraulic load of 0.1m3 / m2d, loads of 66.6 gDQO / m2d, 14.6 gSST / m2d and 7.26 gNTK / m2d. The system proved to be a viable alternative, compared to the activated sludge and lagoon systems, for the respective fullscale deployment on that campus.
