Urban forest fragments are important areas for conserving species and maintaining all ecosystem services. The present work aimed to carry out a survey of soil insects in the UTFPR Forest, Medianeira-PR campus, which has an area of 5550 m². Five monthly collections were made in the period between 18/12 /2023 and 04/28/2024. For sampling, 23 sampling points were demarcated, with a distance of 10 m between points, where pit-fall traps were installed. The traps consisted of a plastic pot with a volume of 500mL, containing water and neutral detergent. In each collection, the traps were installed at ground level and monitored after 24 hours. The collected insects were stored in 70% alcohol until identification, which was carried out at the family level. The structure of the soil insect community was studied, using richness (Margalef) and diversity (Shannon) indices. 119 individuals belonging to 6 orders and 17 families of insects were collected and identified, with the orders Hymenoptera and Diptera being the most frequent. Within the order Hymenoptera, the Formicidae family stood out. In the order Diptera, 9 families were found, with Sarcophagidae being the one with the largest number of insects. When analyzing the structure of the community, a wealth index of 3.34 and a diversity index of 1.79 were found. The results of this work show the importance of maintaining forest fragments within urban areas (even small ones) for the conservation of biodiversity.
