A good thermal performance is a required premise for a residence. Moreover, the NBR15575 establish standard for the analyses and classification aiming to improve the thermal performance of the housing building through passive strategies. Therefore, understanding the material choice assist the decision making in the many executive phases of the building. This document aims to study the effects of the modification or substitution of the material used regarding thermal performance, without being necessary the change in the architectural project or the structure of the residence. The study object is a single-family housing building located in Pato Branco city, in the state of Paraná. Initially took place thermal performance simulation by energyplus using data of the house as built, and classifying it according the standards of NBR 15575. Posteriorly it took place the addition of insulating material, glass wool, and simulated again. In a third analysis, the glass was replaced in the windows for another with better features for the favoring thermal performance during summer. Lastly all the modification was merged and a comparative was made for al internal temperatures obtained. It was observed that the use of glass wool generated mor impactful results for most environment. The substitution of the glass contributed little to the decrease of the temperature in the thermal zone. Generally, the use of all modifications together generates satisfactory results, elevating the rating of the most critical environment.
