Since selective collection is established at the municipal level, the generators have responsibility to properly pack and make available reusable solid waste and recyclable for selective collection. When carrying out the monitoring of the waste that arrives at the Cooperativa Resíduo Solidário (Cooperesíduos) it was possible to understand the collection dynamics selective in the municipality and, identify and quantify the waste that is erroneously destined to selective collection, in addition to assessing the costs for the municipality and the loss of income from the cooperative and association. In the municipality of Campo Mourão there is a selective collection "door to door"carried out by a third-party company that transports recyclable waste for the collectors’ cooperative. However, the high volumes of waste that are segregated by the collectors, making it necessary to identify and quantify these tailings, then, the sampling method by quartering was used, which allowed to separate waste in 3 (three) different types: those that are not recyclable (Type 1); those who are recyclable, but have poor recycling quality (Type 2) and those that do not present commercialization and/or are subject to reverse logistics (Type 3). for the tailings Type 1 was found around 35.30%, while that of Type 2 was 31.50% and that of Type 3 was of 33.20%. Type 2 tailings caused a loss of revenue to Cooperessuits of about of R$ 1,967.64 for the analyzed period, and a cost to the municipality of R$ 11,961.97. after being estimated for the years 2021 and 2022, the cost of the municipality of R$ 130,571.62 was observed and BRL 148,077.70 and the cooperative’s revenue losses of R$ 39,170.63 and R$ 33,360.11, respectively. And for the year 2023, it is estimated that there will be a cost for the municipality of R$ 143,543.66 and a loss of revenue for the cooperative of R$ 23,611.78. It is necessary that there is awareness of all those involved and encouragement to the correct segregation of waste in its generating source, thus promoting the effectiveness of selective collection and the development sustainable.
