Resumo: An unprecedented classification scheme for stonemeal is proposed in this work, unifying agrogeological and commercial nomenclatures, adopting qualitative criteria and removing ambiguities and innapropriate terms while aiming to facilitate the communication between different fields of knowledge. Stonemeal consists in powdered rocks enriched in K, Ca and/or Mg that are directly applied in the field for crop nutrition. The classification proposal is based both on geochemistry and mineralogy, dividing products in four categories: Primary, for those that have high K and/or P contents; Secondary, for the ones that contain high Ca and/or Mg values; Whole, for those that have high values for both Primary and Secondary classes; and Universal, for the products that have low macronutrient contents, but that still can be commercialized according to legal determinations. The criteria used forthe classification are qualitative, in a sense that they can be adapted to changes in market and legal conditions.

The criteria used forthe classification are qualitative, in a sense that they can be adapted to changes in market and legal conditions.Considerando a necessidade de organização e alinhamento entre termos geológicos, agronômicos e comerciais, é proposta uma classificação qualitativa de fácil compreensão, facilitando a comunicação e eliminando ambiguidades e terminologias inapropriadas para os remineralizadores. Esse tipo de insumo consiste em materiais geológicos cujo único processo de beneficiamento é a cominuição, com aplicação in natura nos solos agrícolas. Propõe-se, com base em critérios mineralógicos e geoquímicos, que os remineralizadores que apresentem concentrações de minerais ricos em determinados elementos e, consequentemente, altos teores geoquímicos, sejam subdivididos em: Primários, para K e/ou P; Secundários, para Ca e/ou Mg; Integrais, para os que atendem a todas as características dos primários e secundários; e Universais, para os que atendem aos critérios mínimos da legislação, mas que não possuem altos teores de nenhum macronutriente. Os critérios para a classificação são qualitativos, buscando ser orientativos, adaptando-se a mudanças mercadológicas e legislativas.Universidade de São Paulo.
