Summary: The text aims to seize the formation and diversification of São Paulo’s wealth during thenineteenth century. The analysis rests on the Lacerda Franco, important family whosemembers started economically in activities of internal market (farm supplies, animalfarming and trade, production of brandy) at lands near the village of São Paulo andlater migrated to the Oeste Paulista, becoming planters and farmers. This enrichmentprocess shows the formation of agricultural societies, commissioner and exporter firms,industry, banking, diversifying the forms of wealth within the coffee exporter complexin the second half of the XIX. The focus of the study is to apprehend the dynamic(movement) of this process, materialized through the documentation of the family  and its businesses – what differentiates the work of the current analyzes supportedunequivocally in inventories – the economic strategies, in different economic activitiesthat they have enriched and the diffuse forms to invest their earnings.

A análise recai sobre os Lacerda Franco, importante família paulista cujos membros principiaram economicamente em atividades de cunho interno (lavoura de mantimentos, criação e comércio de animais, produção de aguardente) nas terras próximas da vila de São Paulo e, posteriormente, migraram para o Oeste Paulista, tornando-se senhores de engenho e cafeicultores. Esse processo de enriquecimento aponta a formação de sociedades agrícolas, casa comissária e exportadora, indústria, banco, diversificando as formas de riqueza dentro do complexo exportador cafeeiro da segunda metade do XIX. O fio condutor do trabalho é a apreensão da dinâmica (movimento) desse processo, materializada, através da documentação da família e de suas empresas, no deslocamento pela Província de São Paulo, nas diferentes atividades econômicas que os enriqueceram e nas difusas formas de alocação do capital.Universidade de São Paulo.
