Rationality, education and psychological suffering: COVID-19 pandemic as a time frame

Summary: | This article considers the thesis discussed by T. W. Adorno and M. Horkheimer which the way of the modern rationality is an “introversion of sacrifice”. That thesis presupposes that the path of the historical development of civilization requires the deepening of human sacrifice as a price to pay. As it develops, the rationality itself poured into new control devices anchored in digital technologies engenders a new symptomatology. Anxiety, depression, fear, stress are symptoms that are increasingly manifested in large human contingents spread across different regions of the planet. In this sense, the Covid-19 pandemic, in its most critical period, 2020 – 2021, appears as a time frame from which these symptoms became, if not more explicit, at least more intense because of protective confinement measures. |

W. Adorno y M. Horkheimer según la cual, el devenir histórico de la civilización cobra inexorablemente el precio de la entronización del sacrificio humano. A medida que se desarrolla, la propia racionalidad vertida en nuevos dispositivos de control anclados en tecnologías digitales engendra una nueva sintomatología. La ansiedad, la depresión, el miedo, el estrés son síntomas que se manifiestan cada vez más en grandes contingentes humanos distribuidos en diferentes regiones del planeta. En este sentido, la pandemia de la Covid-19, en su periodo más crítico, 2020-2021, figura aquí como un marco temporal a partir del cual estos síntomas se hicieron, si no más explícitos, al menos más intensos como consecuencia de las medidas protectoras de confinamiento.O presente artigo aborda o modo como as características pregnantes da racionalidade atual vêm consubstanciar a tese sustentada por T. W. Adorno e M. Horkheimer segundo a qual o desenvolvimento histórico da civilização cobra, inexoravelmente, o preço da entronização do sacrifício humano. À medida que se desenvolve, a racionalidade mesma, vertida em novos dispositivos de controle ancorados nas tecnologias digitais, engendra uma nova sintomatologia. Ansiedade, depressão, medo, estresse figuram como sintomas que se manifestam, de modo crescente, em largos contingentes humanos distribuídos por diversas regiões do planeta.
