Summary: This paper aims to discuss heritage preservation and interventions in the cemetery space, taking the Vera Cruz Cemetery, of Passo Fundo/RS, as a field of study, understanding the cemetery as an open-air museum. We opted for a dialogue between History, Art and Heritage, cataloging tombs and funerary typologies. We catalog the most expressive ones according to criteria determined during the research, to contextualize the symbolic and allegorical representations present in the cemetery. We also discussed the possibilities of intervention in the cemetery space, problematizing the actions of third parties in the tombs and their implication in the funerary heritage and its symbolic and representative set. Thus, it is clear that the intervention, if carried out in line with historical research, helps to preserve and enhance patrimony.

Al optar por un diálogo entre Historia, Arte y Patrimonio, se enumeraron tumbas y tipologías funerarias, enumerándose las más expresivas según criterios determinados durante la investigación, con el fin de contextualizar las representaciones simbólicas y alegóricas presentes en el cementerio. También se discuten las posibilidades de intervención en el espacio del cementerio, problematizando las acciones de terceros en las tumbas y su implicación en el patrimonio funerario y en su conjunto simbólico y representativo. Por tanto, está claro que la intervención, si se lleva a cabo en línea con la investigación histórica, ayuda a preservar y valorar el patrimonio.Este artigo tem como objetivo discutir a preservação patrimonial e as intervenções no espaço cemiterial, tomando como campo de estudo o Cemitério Vera Cruz, de Passo Fundo/RS, compreendido como museu a céu aberto. Ao optar por um diálogo entre História, Arte e Patrimônio, foram catalogados túmulos e tipologias funerárias, tendo sido elencados os mais expressivos conforme critérios determinados no decorrer da pesquisa, a fim de contextualizar as representações simbólicas e alegóricas presentes no cemitério. Discute-se ainda as possibilidades de intervenção no espaço cemiterial, problematizando as ações de terceiros nos túmulos e a implicação destas no patrimônio funerário e em seu conjunto simbólico e representativo.
