Resumo: The objective of this work was to evaluate the effect of the nutritional quality of Aphis gossypii reared on cultivars Auburn SM 310, JPM 781-88-3, Allen and IPEACO-SL 22-61131 on some biological aspects of the immature stages of Chrysoperla externa. The trials were conducted at 25 ± 2º C, 60 ± 10% RH and 12-hour photophase, in a completely randomized design. Newly hatched larvae were individualized in glass tubes and fed on thirdand fourth-instar nymphs of the aphid reared on each cultivar and given at the densities of 14, 30 and 90 aphids to the first, second and third instars of the green lacewing, respectively. Development time, daily and total consumption, weight of larvae and survival at each instar, development time, weight and survival of pre-pupae and pupae were evaluated. The aphids from the JPM 781-88-3 cultivar caused a reduction in the daily and total consumption of first instar larvae and a shorter length of the second instar and the larval stage. The nutritional quality of the aphids was passed to the predator.

The nutritional quality of the aphids was passed to the predator.Objetivou-se avaliar os efeitos de pulgões criados nas cultivares de algodoeiro Auburn SM 310, JPM 781-88-3, Allen e IPEACO-SL 22-61131 sobre alguns aspectos biológicos das fases imaturas de Chrysoperla externa. Os experimentos foram conduzidos em sala climatizada, a 25 ± 2º C, 60 ± 10% UR e fotofase de 12 horas, em delineamento inteiramente casualizado. Larvas recém-eclodidas foram individualizadas em tubos de vidro e alimentadas com ninfas de terceiro e quarto ínstares de Aphis gossypii criadas em cada cultivar, fornecendo-as nas densidades de 14, 30 e 90 pulgões para o primeiro, segundo e terceiro ínstares de C. externa, respectivamente. Foram avaliados a duração, consumo diário e total de pulgões, peso das larvas e a viabilidade em cada ínstar, a duração, peso e viabilidade das pré-pupas e pupas. Constatou-se efeitos positivos da cultivar JPM 781-88-3 sobre a biologia das fases imaturas de C. externa alimentada com ninfas de A. gossypii que nela se desenvolveram, em relação às demais cultivares estudadas. Larvas alimentadas com pulgões oriundos da cultivar JPM 781-88-3 apresentaram um menor consumo diário e total, quando no primeiro ínstar, e uma redução na duração do segundo ínstar e da fase larval.
