Summary: | This article aims at discussing the potential of narratives in history teaching, highlighting the historical narrative in classroom and their dialogue with literary narrative. Therefore, it is resorted to Withe’s (2001) assumptions on the relationships between historical narrative and literary discourse, and to Veyne’s (2008) description of history as a narrative of events. Thus, it is applied principles of ethnographic methodology such as observation, description and analysis, from a wide concept on narrative, highlighting its potential on what regards to history teaching. In view of that, it is analyzed, according to Cardoso’s (2001) typology, the oral narrative from a history lesson about World War I addressed to a high school class, by describing its plot, the manner the characters were worked on, time and space, and the narrator position and its narrative focus. Thereby, it is aimed at identifying what conceptions of history are revealed in such narrative as well as perceiving how the structure and functions of those elements allow the spread of scientific culture and the necessary contextualization in order to interpret history towards didactic ends. |

Seguimos los presupuestos de Withe (2001) sobre la relación entre la narrativa histórica y el discurso literário, y Veyne (2008), al descrivir la História como una narrativa de hechos. Utilizanse los princípios del método etnográfico como la observación, la descrición y la análise, siguiendo una visión ampliada de la narrativa, destacando su potencial en la enseñanza de la história. Analisase, a partir de la tipologia presentada por Cardoso (2001), la narrativa oral de una clase de História sobre la Primera Guerra Mundial, elaborada por una profesora para una clase de tercer año de Secundária, descriviendo su trama, la forma como se trabajó con los personages, el tiempo y el espacio, el punto de vista del narrador y su foco narrativo, buscando identificar que concepciones de História se revelam en la narrativa e identificando como la estructura y la función de esos elementos permite a disseminación de la cultura científica y la contextualización necesária a la interpretación de la história para fines didácticos.Este artigo tem por objetivo discutir o potencial das narrativas no ensino de história, destacando a narrativa histórica em sala de aula e seu diálogo com a narrativa literária. Seguimos os pressupostos de Withe (2001) sobre a relação entre a narrativa histórica e o discurso literário, e Veyne (2008), ao descrever a História como uma narrativa de eventos. Utilizam-se os princípios do método etnográfico como a observação, a descrição e a análise, seguindo uma visão ampliada da narrativa, destacando seu potencial no ensino de história.
