Brings the relevance of that relationship as a way to promote memory and culture, preservation of collections and support tool for teaching and learning process. Approach the debate on memory, history and herigate to support the social role that the archive plays. As analysis agent, the Nacional Archives was chosen, for play a significant political role, in the actions focusing the archives. Besides pedagogical activity application in the National Archives, to assess the possibilities and obstacles encountered in school interaction and file, it was made a survey of diffusion actions promoted by this institution, to understand the scope of its actions. The results show a great distance this institution with the public school, but also highlights the benefits for both, education and archive, when both work together.n/aO presente trabalho trata a importância da aproximação de instituições de arquivo com a comunidade escolar, através do incentivo a Educação Patrimonial. Traz a relevância dessa relação como forma de fomento a memória e cultura, preservação dos acervos e ferramenta de apoio ao processo de ensino e aprendizagem. Aproximo o debate sobre memória, história e patrimônio para fundamentar o papel social que o arquivo desempenha. Como objeto de análise, foi escolhido o Arquivo Nacional, por desempenhar papel político significativo, nas ações voltadas para os arquivos. Além de aplicação de atividade pedagógica no Arquivo Nacional, para aferir as possibilidades e obstáculos encontrados na interação escola e arquivo, foi feito levantamento das ações de difusão promovidas por este órgão, para compreender a abrangência de suas ações.
