Questões legais e éticas do aborto: quais são as opiniões e o conhecimento dos discentes da Unipampa?

The study aimed to investigate the knowledge and opinions of students of the Higher Technology in Public Management course at the Federal University of Pampa campus Santana do Livramento / RS, in relation to legal issues and ethical aspects of abortion. It is about applied research, a qualitative approach and regarding the exploratory and descriptive objective. Data were collected through an online questionnaire totaling 86 respondents and analyzed using the content analysis technique. The results of the research demonstrate that, when it comes to legal issues, the students' knowledge is shallow and many answers are given based on popular knowledge. The existence of the problematic and everyday nature of the act is reaffirmed by the numbers of maternal deaths and by means of empirical data, since the majority stated that they already had, in some way, contact with the abortion procedure. It is worth noting that, in contrast to data frequently found in research on the subject, this study found no relationship between the respondents' opinion on factors of gender, religion or social movements. As a contribution, this study highlights the theme as a social and public health problem. That is, it presents insights to deepen the issue so that it can assist in the decision-making process to alleviate this problem, guaranteeing reproductive health in the lives of women since adolescence. Studies that cover the topic are pertinent for the verification of laws and issues that involve social justice, human rights and public health.
