Parkinson's Disease and the Motor Aging Process: A Literature Review

Introduction: Parkinson’s disease (PD) is a chronic degenerative disease characterized by classic motor symptoms, which may influence the development of some postural changes. It may compromise the development of some non-motor symptoms that associated with other functional deficits, end up negatively influencing quality of life (QV).Objective: To verify the symptoms of Parkinson’s disease, motor and non-motor disorders and disease involvement.Methods: The study consists of a bibliography review, carried out through a search in the Medline, Scielo and Google academic databases. Observational studies, cohort and randomized controlled trials, published between 1967 and 2019, in English and Portuguese were selected in which they keyword wire present the title or abstract.Results: 77 articles were identified and after reading abstract and results, 12 results were excluded because they did not address the research topic and because they were outside the proposed period, leaving 65 articles that were including addressing the research topic.Conclusion: It should be noted that there is a great interest in a discovery of new antiparkinsonian agents that manage to block or even reverse the neurodegeneration process in (PD).
