Academic improvement through participation in the tutorial education program

Summary: As a result of the rapid process of changes in all areas that the human being is inserted, there has been an increasing search for improvement in the teaching environment, in which the student stops being a mere listener and enters the scene applying the theory in practice. In this way, the Tutorial Education Program (PET) emerges as a tool that uses the teaching, research and extension triad as a way to bring the university closer to society through the performance of its actions. The PET Veterinary Medicine / Family Agriculture of the Federal University of Fronteira Sul was created in 2010, at the same time as the implementation of the veterinary medicine course at the institution. Due to the large number of small properties of dairy cattle farming, it was necessary to provide assistance to the properties, providing information, technical and practical knowledge that would contribute to improving the quality of the milk produced. The objective of this report is to address the role of extension activities developed in the professional and personal training of program graduates. The testimonies of 20 students and two tutors were analyzed, as well as information in reports, plans, action plans of the most diverse activities developed by the program during the same period, in addition to data from the lattes curriculum of each graduate. The reports differently highlight the importance of participating in the program, with emphasis on outreach and social activities. The graduates enjoyed the possibility of training with a differential, which made them more qualified to exercise the profession, with responsibility and ethics, in addition to contributing to the development of society and the permanence of farmers in the field.

De esta manera, el Programa de Educación Tutorial (PET) surge como una herramienta que utiliza la tríada docencia, investigación y extensión como una forma de aproximar la universidad a la sociedad promoviendo un incremento del desempeño de sus acciones. El PET Medicina Veterinaria / Agricultura Familiar de la Universidad Federal de Fronteira Sul fue creado en 2010, coincidiendo con la implementación del curso de medicina veterinaria en la institución. Debido a la gran cantidad de pequeñas propiedades de la ganadería lechera, fue necesario brindar asistencia a las propiedades, difundiendo información, conocimientos técnicos y prácticos que contribuyen a mejorar la calidad de la leche producida. El propósito de este informe es abordar el papel de las actividades de extensión en este grupo en la formación profesional y personal de los egresados del programa. Se analizaron los testimonios de 20 estudiantes y dos ex tutores, así como información en informes, planes de acción de las más diversas actividades desarrolladas por el programa durante el mismo período, además de datos del currículo lattes de cada egresado. Los informes destacan de manera diferenciada la importancia de participar en el programa, con énfasis en las actividades de divulgación y sociales. Los egresados disfrutaron de la posibilidad de formarse con un diferencial positivo, lo que los capacitó para el ejercicio de la profesión, con responsabilidad y ética, además de contribuir al desarrollo de la sociedad y la permanencia de los agricultores en el campo.Em decorrência do rápido processo de mudanças em todos os âmbitos que o ser humano está inserido, cada vez mais se tem buscado aperfeiçoamento nos meios de ensino, no qual, o aluno deixa de ser mero ouvinte e entra em cena aplicando a teoria na prática. Dessa maneira, o Programa de Educação Tutorial (PET) surge como uma ferramenta que utiliza a tríade ensino, pesquisa e extensão como uma forma de aproximar a universidade da sociedade através da realização de suas ações. O PET Medicina Veterinária/Agricultura Familiar da Universidade Federal da Fronteira Sul foi criado no ano de 2010, na mesma época da implantação do curso de medicina veterinária na instituição. Em virtude da grande quantidade de pequenas propriedades da bovinocultura leiteira se fez necessária uma forma de assistência às propriedades levando informações, conhecimentos técnicos e práticos que contribuíssem na melhoria na qualidade do leite produzido. O objetivo deste relato é abordar o papel das atividades extensionistas desenvolvidas na formação profissional e pessoal dos egressos do programa. Foram analisados os depoimentos de 20 discentes e dois ex-tutores, além de informações em relatórios, planejamentos, planos de ações das mais diversas atividades desenvolvidas pelo programa durante o mesmo período, além de dados do currículo lattes de cada egresso. Os relatos destacam de forma diferencial a importância em participar do programa, com destaque nas atividades de extensão e de cunho social.
