Este trabalho problematiza a construção romanesca de Eles eram muitos cavalos, de Luiz Ruffato (2001), evidenciando que esse texto recicla, enciclopedicamente, as tendências ficcionais posteriores à crise representacional do final do século XIX e, portanto, a tradição romanesca subsequente, por meio da materialização da consciência narrativa a respeito da relatividade da mímesis do real. Assim, a partir do questionamento, da representação e da forma romanesca, transcorridos desde a virada para o século XX pelos estudos sobre as limitações e (im)possibilidades da mímesis do real (PELLEGRINI, 2007; 2009; LIMA, 2014; ISER, 2013), o livro de Ruffato será lido como uma solução especial para a problemática da exaustão das formas da ficção.   This paper discusses the romanesque construction of Eles eram muitos cavalos, by Luiz Ruffato (2001), showing that this text recycles, encyclopedically, fictional tendencies after the representational crisis of the late XIX century and, therefore, the subsequent novelistic tradition, through the materialization of narrative consciousness, regarding the relativity of real’s mimesis. Thus, from the questioning, of representation and novelistic form, occured since the turn of twentieth century by the studies on the limitations and (im)possibilities of real’s mimesis (PELLEGRINI, 2007; 2009; LIMA, 2014; ISER, 2013 ), Ruffato’s book will be read as a special solution to the problematic of the exhaustion of the forms of fiction.
