EVIDENCE-BASED PSYCHOLOGY: A PATH TO EXCELLENCE IN CLINICAL PRACTICE AND TRAINING IN PSYCHOLOGY

Summary: Evidence-Based Practice in Psychology emphasizes the integration of rigorous scientific data with clinical practice. It is based on empirical studies to guide decisions, assessments, and psychological interventions, promoting the effectiveness and quality of the services provided. This practice plays a crucial role in the academic training and professional practice of psychologists as it allows for an informed, responsible, and up-to-date approach. It also encourages the continuous search for knowledge, as psychological science is constantly evolving. Therefore, this study is a literature review with the objective of discussing the importance of Evidence-Based Practice in Psychology in the training and professional life of psychology. As a result, it is found that some barriers may arise when talking about or implementing this practice. The lack of access to research resources, complexity of interpreting scientific studies, and time required to incorporate new knowledge into practice are common challenges. In addition, standardized, evidence-based approaches may not be suitable for all clinical contexts, requiring flexibility in their application. In conclusion, Evidence-Based Psychology is an essential pillar in the training and practice of psychologists, improving the quality of services and keeping the profession aligned with scientific findings. Despite these challenges, the benefits in terms of positive outcomes for patients and the advancement of psychology as a discipline are undeniable. In addition to providing an ethical clinical environment between psychologists and patients, acting in accordance with the professional code of ethics psychology also holds dear.  Keywords: Scientificity, Education, Evidence-based Practice, Psychotherapy.

Ela se baseia em estudos empiricamente sólidos para guiar decisões, avaliações e intervenções psicológicas, promovendo a eficácia e a qualidade dos serviços prestados. Essa prática desempenha um papel crucial na formação acadêmica e na prática profissional dos psicólogos, pois permite uma abordagem informada, responsável e atualizada. Ela também incentiva a busca contínua por conhecimento, uma vez que a ciência psicológica está em constante evolução. Portanto, este estudo trata-se de uma revisão bibliográfica, com o objetivo de se discutir sobre a importância da Prática Baseada em Evidências em Psicologia na formação e na vida profissional de Psicologia. Como resultados, constata-se que algumas barreiras podem surgir ao se falar ou implementar essa prática. A falta de acesso a recursos de pesquisa, a complexidade da interpretação de estudos científicos e o tempo necessário para incorporar novos conhecimentos na prática são desafios comuns. Além disso, abordagens padronizadas baseadas em evidências podem não se adequar a todos os contextos clínicos, exigindo flexibilidade na aplicação. Em conclusão, a Psicologia Baseada em Evidências é um pilar essencial na formação e prática dos psicólogos, aprimorando a qualidade dos serviços e mantendo a profissão alinhada às descobertas científicas. Embora haja desafios, os benefícios em termos de resultados positivos para os pacientes e o avanço da psicologia como disciplina são inegáveis, além de se proporcionar um ambiente clínico ético entre psicólogo e paciente, atuando conforme o código de ética profissional da psicologia preza.
