Análise de travessia de pedestres e ciclistas em passarelas: um estudo de caso na RSC-287/Av. Roraima

Summary: Concerning the characteristics of the urbanization process of the Brazilian cities, it is essential for the employment of planning and organization methods. This engagement aims to minimize disadvantages arising from the relationship between the country’s large fleet of vehicles and all other means of transportation. In this context, pedestrians and cyclists are the most vulnerable in terms of safety and, therefore, should be contemplated with tools that help to preserve their movement areas on the streets and roads. Also, as more numerous situations of the disagreement between different vehicles flow, more impaired is the good functioning of the highways. These characteristics were observed in the intersection between the RSC-287 highway and Roraima avenue in Santa Maria- RS, at the pedestrian and cyclist crossing site, near the UFSM Campus. Aiming to solve these problems, this work was developed through a case study to analyze the necessity and the feasibility of implementing a walkway crossing. A quantitative survey of on-site traffic volume and a qualitative survey of all physical and functional characteristics of the current crossing were performed. The results showed that the installation of a walkway crossing would be following the criteria established by the bibliography studied and would bring benefits to pedestrians, cyclists, and drivers of vehicles passing through this area. Also, the installation would contribute in favor of safety and the good functioning of traffic in general. Moreover, it has also been shown the presence of necessary attributes in the site to ensure that the structure would be efficient and used by all.

Moreover, it has also been shown the presence of necessary attributes in the site to ensure that the structure would be efficient and used by all.Conhecendo as características do processo de urbanização das cidades brasileiras é essencial que sejam utilizados métodos de planejamento e organização de mobilidade urbana a fim de minimizar desvantagens oriundas da relação entre a grande frota de veículos existentes no país e os outros meios de deslocamento. Nesse contexto, pedestres e ciclistas são os mais vulneráveis no quesito segurança e, portanto, devem ser contemplados com medidas que ajudem a preservar os seus espaços de locomoção nas ruas e vias. O bom funcionamento das rodovias também é prejudicado conforme o número de situações de discordância entre diferentes fluxos. Essas características foram observadas no caso da interseção entre a rodovia RSC-287 e a Avenida Roraima em Santa Maria - RS, no local de travessia de pedestres e ciclistas próximo à entrada principal do Campus da UFSM. Visando solucionar tais problemas, este trabalho foi desenvolvido, por meio de um estudo de caso com o objetivo de analisar a necessidade e a viabilidade de implantação de uma travessia por passarela. Realizou-se um levantamento quantitativo de volume de tráfego no local e um levantamento qualitativo das características físicas e funcionais da travessia atual. Os resultados demonstraram que a instalação de uma passarela estaria de acordo com os critérios estabelecidos pela bibliografia estudada e traria benefícios para pedestres, ciclistas e condutores dos veículos que passam pela região, em prol da segurança e do bom funcionamento do trânsito em geral.
