Summary: This document aims to present the methodologies analyzed for the prediction of fatigue failure of mechanical components applied to a vehicle prototype off-road model baja SAE , as well as the considerations made for the acquisition of the loading history, which was acquired on the track. For mechanical components where the decomposition of efforts based on a purely theoretical basis becomes very complex and dependent on the terrain, as in the analyzed component, a form for instrumentation and acquisition of the real load history is presented in this work. Therefore, the determination of the loads was carried out experimentally, through the instrumentation applied to the component in question. The estimate presented followed the methodologies described by the bibliography, for the determination of stresses and prediction of life in fatigue, and can be reapplied to other mechanical components of the baja SAE prototypes. The fatigue life for the component was estimated at 4, 482.105 cycles, based on the Rain Flow cycle counting methodology, considering the Goodman criterion for the correction of the mean stress effect. The comparison of the results of the analytical calculations with the finite element tool showed values in the same order and magnitude, however the finite element analysis showed more conservative results.
