Endometriose intestinal: análise comparativa entre ultrassonografia e avaliação anatomopatológica em peças cirúrgicas

Endometriosis is a disease characterized by the presence of endometrial tissue outside the uterine cavity and affects approximately 10 to 15% of women of reproductive age worldwide. Among the patients affected by this disease, 12% present their intestinal disease, developing symptoms also in the digestive tract. The extent of the intestinal lesion observed in these patients is analyzed through imaging tests associated with the clinical presentation of the patients and is a parameter to evaluate the need for surgical treatment of the disease. The aim of this study is to evaluate image changes in patients undergoing surgical treatment for intestinal endometriosis and to compare the extent of the disease described by ultrasonography with the findings of the pathological study of the surgical specimens. This is an observational and retrospective study where slides stained with Hematoxylin and Eosin (HE) were analyzed and in which clinical data were obtained by consulting medical records of patients from 2010 to 2017. 31 cases were analyzed, 24 of them with clinical data analysis and 12 with a correlation of pathology and pre-surgical ultrasonography, where similarities of pathological and ultrasonographic data were evaluated.
