Sustainable cities and urban planning: the need for climate adaptation and resilience instruments

Summary: This article contextualizes the theme of the complexity of urban planning for the concretization of sustainable cities, in line with what the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the 2030 Agenda of United Nations (UN). In this sense, the research faces the problem of answering for what reason the instruments of adapting to climate change and of the resilience must to be observed to meet the SDGs in terms of the need for public policies to achieve urban sustainability in Brazil. The objective is, precisely, to analyze the reality of brazilian cities, as well as the urgent implementation of urban and legal planning so that it is possible to overcome the challenges imposed by climate and environmental metamorphoses. To this end, this exploratory study, basic in nature and qualitative approach, uses the hypothetical-deductive scientific method and the procedural research technique of bibliographic and documentary.

Nesse sentido, a pesquisa enfrenta a problemática de responder por qual razão os instrumentos de adaptação às mudanças climáticas e de resiliência precisam ser observados para atenderem aos ODS no que tange à necessidade de políticas públicas de concreção da sustentabilidade urbana no Brasil. O objetivo consiste, justamente, em analisar a realidade das cidades brasileiras, bem como a urgente implementação de planejamento urbano e jurídico de modo que seja possível superar os desafios impostos pelas metamorfoses climáticas e ambientais.
