Summary: | The aim of this study was to understand the way a nursing team experiences the process of caring of a hospitalized cancer patient. This is a phenomenological qualitative research based on the theoretic-philosophic referential of Maurice Merleau-Ponty and the hermeneutics of Paul Ricoeur, developed at a university hospital of the state of Rio Grande do Sul. An open survey was applied to nine professionals from the nursing team. Four subjects were raised from the speeches: self-perception as a professional, perception of the other as a caregiver, perception of the ambiguity life and death in care, perception of the learning in giving care. The experience of the nursing Professional in taking care of a hospitalized cancer patient rises as a way to fulfill the needs and provide welfare to the other people. Also, as an ability to see, hear, observe, and feel; being available to perform to the other what they cannot do, comforting, sharing knowledge and educating for self-care. |

Pesquisa qualitativa de natureza fenomenológica pautada no referencial teórico-filosófico de Maurice Merleau-Ponty e na hermenêutica de Paul Ricoeur, realizada em um Hospital Universitário do Rio Grande do Sul/Brasil. Foi realizada entrevista aberta com nove profissionais da equipe de enfermagem. Dos discursos, emergiram quatro temas: percepção de si como profissional, percepção do outro como ser-de-cuidado, percepção da ambigüidade vida e morte no cuidado, percepção da aprendizagem ao cuidar do outro. A vivência de ser profissional de enfermagem no cuidado do ser com câncer hospitalizado surge como uma maneira de atender as necessidades e proporcionar bem-estar ao outro e também como uma habilidade de olhar, ouvir, observar, sentir, estando disponível para fazer com, ou para o outro, o que ele não consegue realizar, confortando, compartilhando saberes e educando para o autocuidado.Se pretendió comprender cómo el equipo de enfermería percibe el proceso del acto de cuidar al paciente con cáncer que está hospitalizado. Para la investigación se utilizó el enfoque cualitativo de naturaleza fenomenológica basada en el marco teóricofilosófico de Maurice-Ponty y en la hermenéutica de Paul Ricoeur, desarrollada en un Hospital Universitario de Rio Grande do Sul/Brasil. Se realizó una entrevista abierta con nueve profesionales del equipo de enfermería. De los discursos, surgieron cuatro temas: percepción de sí mismo como profesional, percepción del otro como ser-de-cuidado, percepción de la ambigüedad vida y muerte en el cuidado, percepción del aprendizaje al cuidar del otro.
