The search for higher education among high school students is steadily increasing, likely driven by the perceived advantages in the job market and personal development. The government has been actively working to democratize access to higher education through public policies, scho- larships, and investments. Initiatives such as the National High School Exam (Exame Nacional do Ensino Médio) and the Unified Selection System (Sistema de Seleção Unificada) exemplify these efforts, facilitating the admission of numerous students to the country’s leading universities. However, the abundance of courses and institutions can pose challenges for candidates in making informed decisions. Additionally, the information available in the selection system may be insufficient or overly simplified, increasing the risks of rejection. Specifically, this concerns the cut-off scores from previous years for the analyzed institution’s courses. One proposed solution is to enhance the presentation of this information, employing graphics to facilitate candidates’ comprehension and enabling a historical review of the data. This study introduces tools for creating such graphics, their application, and the associated benefits. The methods employed for extracting data from files provided by SISU and UFC involve the use of the Python programming language and its libraries. This approach establishes a database for use in the graphical and dashboard creation tool, "Looker Studio."The analysis reveals that the positive or negative variations in cut-off scores for specific quotas and courses raise intriguing speculations about the level of competitiveness in the selection process. Factors such as candidates’ interest in the institution’s offered courses and its impact on competition for available slots may also play a significant role. In conclusion, summarizing these data can benefit both the institution, guiding the development of actions to increase candidate interest in courses, and students, who can use the information to inform their course selection.
