Summary: | The aim of this study was to analyze the behavior of the resistance of strength of superior and inferior members, and maximum strength of handgrip of aged women in a two years period. Sample was composed by 21 aged women with mean age of 70,1 (±5,6) years, that practiced traditional water-bassed exercises in moderate intensity, twice a week. In statistical analysis was used the test of MANOVA and the Bonferroni Post-Hoc tests, both with a level of significancy of 5%. A significant difference was verified in the group of variables during the two-year follow up (p<0,001). The water aerobics project contributed to increase the strength of superior (p=0,002) and inferior (p<0,001) members, and to decrease the rigth handgrip strength (p=0,020). In general ways, programs of water-based exercises are recommended for increase and maintenance of resistance of strength levels, for superior and inferior members, exept for handgrip strength. |
