A PORTRAIT OF DEVASTATION: SCHOOLING OF YOUNG PEOPLE AND ADULTS IN THE CONTEXT OF BRAZILIAN SOCIETY FROM 2015 TO 2022

Summary: This article analyzes the socio-economic and ideological-political context that marked the schooling processes in Youth and Adult Education (EJA) in Brazilian society between 2015 and 2022. It seeks to answer the following question: what are the relationships established between the schooling processes of young people and adults and the contradictions and challenges generated by the impacts of the capitalist crisis on Brazilian education and society? It analyzes the schooling of young people and adults considering that the capitalist crisis provided advances in conservatism in Brazilian society and education. The official data presented show the significant dismantling of the modality in question and the setback in guaranteeing the right to education for young people and adults. The increase in social and, above all, educational inequalities marked the period studied. Based on this analysis, it reinforces the need to face this adverse context in order to establish EJA as a modality that meets the interests, trajectories and projects of human emancipation and social transformation.

Busca responder a la siguiente pregunta: ¿cuáles son las relaciones que se establecen entre los procesos de escolarización de jóvenes y adultos y las contradicciones y desafíos generados por los impactos de la crisis capitalista en la educación y la sociedad brasileña? Analiza la escolarización de jóvenes y adultos considerando que la crisis capitalista provocó avances del conservadurismo en la sociedad y la educación brasileñas. Los datos oficiales presentados resaltan el importante desmantelamiento de la modalidad en cuestión y el retroceso en la garantía del derecho a la educación de jóvenes y adultos. El aumento de las desigualdades sociales y, sobre todo, educativas marcó el período estudiado. A partir de este análisis, se refuerza la necesidad de enfrentar este contexto adverso para establecer la EJA como una modalidad que atienda los intereses, trayectorias y proyectos de emancipación humana y transformación social.O artigo analisa o contexto econômico-social e ideopolítico que marcou os processos de escolarização na Educação de Jovens e Adultos (EJA) na sociedade brasileira no período entre 2015 e 2022. Busca responder à seguinte questão: quais as relações estabelecidas entre os processos de escolarização de jovens e adultos e as contradições e os desafios gerados pelos impactos da crise capitalista na educação e na sociedade brasileiras? Analisa a escolarização de jovens e adultos considerando que a crise capitalista proporcionou avanços do conservadorismo na sociedade e na educação brasileiras. Os dados oficiais apresentados evidenciam o significativo desmonte da modalidade em questão e o retrocesso na garantia do direito à educação ao público jovem e adulto. O aumento das desigualdades sociais e, sobretudo, educacionais marcam o período estudado.
