Summary: | This work consists of investigations of the structural, morphological and optical properties of thin films of the Zn(1-x)Cu(x)O system grown on glass substrate using the Spray-Pyrolysis technique with Zinc and Copper acetates as precursors and work temperature in the range of 220°C and 300°C. Our research was based on the growth of the samples varying the Copper concentration from 0 to 100%, followed by the measurements of X-ray Diffraction (XRD), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Optical Absorbance and Transmittance and Photoluminescence (PL). Finally we tested an application of the samples by studying the effects of different atmospheres on the Photoconductivity (PC). The structural characterization shows the growth of polycrystalline films with Wurtzite structure at Copper concentrations up to 10% and monoclinic structure at concentrations starting at 90%. Intermediate concentrations result in films exhibiting the two crystalline phases in coexistence. The crystalline quality accompanies this phase progression and the mean crystallite size is in the range of 9 to 14 nm. SEM images shows homogeneous surface with increasing roughness proportional to the amount of Copper. The Absorption Edge is reduced by the incorporation of Copper atoms in the structure, ranging from 3.31 eV for ZnO to 2.02eV for CuO. It is possible to detect the direct transition for all samples and an indirect for samples with copper concentration from 25%. In addition we show an increase in the absorption coefficient in the visible region. The photoluminescence of ZnO shows that the excitonic and defect-related transitions are present. The photoconductivity of ZnO is strongly dependent on point defects and the concentration of Oxygen in the atmosphere, whereas for CuO, photoconductivity shows little dependence on the atmosphere. |

Nossa investigação foi pautada pelo crescimento dos filmes variando a concentração de Cobre de 0 a 100%, seguido pelas medidas de Difração de Raios-X (DRX), obtenção de imagens de Microscopia Eletrônica de Varredura (MEV), Transmitância de Absorbância ópticas e Fotoluminescência (PL). Por fim testamos uma aplicação das amostras estudando os efeitos de atmosferas diferentes sobre a Fotocondutividade (PC). A Caracterização estrutural mostra o crescimento de filmes policristalinos com estrutura Wurtzita para concentrações de Cobre de até 10% e estrutura monoclínica para concentrações a partir de 90%. Concentrações intermediárias resultam em filmes que exibem as duas fases cristalinas em coexistência. A qualidade cristalina acompanha esta progressão de fase e o tamanho médio de cristalito é da ordem de 9 a 14 nm. As imagens de MEV mostram superfícies homogêneas com rugosidade crescente com a quantidade de Cobre. A Borda de Absorção é reduzida pela incorporação de átomos de Cobre na estrutura, variando de 3,31 eV para o ZnO a 2,02 eV para o CuO. É possível detectar a transição direta para todas as amostras e, também, indireta para amostras com concentração de Cobre a partir de 25%. Além disso mostramos um aumento no coeficiente de absorção na região do visível. A fotoluminescência do ZnO mostra que as transições excitônicas e mediadas por defeitos estão presentes. A fotocondutividade do ZnO é fortemente dependente dos defeitos pontuais e da concentração de Oxigênio na atmosfera, enquanto, para o CuO, a fotocondutividade mostra pouca dependência na atmosfera.Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior (CAPES)porUniversidade Federal de São CarlosCâmpus São CarlosPrograma de Pós-Graduação em Física - PPGFUFSCarSpray-piróliseFotocondutividadeSpray-pyrolisysPhotoconductivityCIENCIAS EXATAS E DA TERRACIENCIAS EXATAS E DA TERRA::FISICA::FISICA DA MATERIA CONDENSADA::PROP.OTICAS E ESPECTROSC.DA MAT.CONDENS;OUTRAS INTER.DA MAT.COM RAD.E PART.Filmes finos de Zn(1-x)Cu(x)O crescidos por Spray Piróliseinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersioninfo:eu-repo/semantics/masterThesisOnlinede7ee5a7-6d94-42d5-96b1-bb4d5a1496adinfo:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessreponame:Repositório Institucional da UFSCARinstname:Universidade Federal de São Carlos (UFSCAR)instacron:UFSCARORIGINALSCOLFARO DA SILVA_Diego_2017.pdfSCOLFARO DA SILVA_Diego_2017.pdfapplication/pdf14533507https://repositorio.ufscar.br/bitstreams/3933294e-d19d-4643-bfb5-701acf4e6e25/download14b0af522f53e66fc9c0c86ec56fba6aMD51trueAnonymousREADSCOLFARO DA SILVA_Diego_2017_Carta.pdfSCOLFARO DA SILVA_Diego_2017_Carta.pdfapplication/pdf174371https://repositorio.ufscar.br/bitstreams/8a75b6d8-23aa-4c96-b437-f39feaac35f6/downloade54b0ccf8a5d7a5407cbe63aaa86fce3MD52falseAnonymousREADLICENSElicense.txtlicense.txttext/plain;
