Summary: This paper investigates the material culture from Brazilian semiarid hinterland peasants focusing on wheels made of rubber flip-flops as creative materialities that invert the presumed functions of industrialized products within the scope of peasant logics. The approach is archaeological, diachronic and regional to analyse discarded things found in peasant households from Ceará, Piauí and Pernambuco states. It is critical to discourses of poverty, isolation, cultural homogeneity and death of the peasantry in face of the arrival of urban industrial consumerist and modern logics to those hinterlands. The wheels, representing the children's universe, allow us to notice how symbolic economies appropriate modern objects creating new materialities from their reuse.

El enfoque es arqueológico, diacrónico y regional para analizar los descartes de las unidades domésticas en los estados de Ceará, Piauí y Pernambuco. Se parte de la crítica a los discursos de pobreza, aislamiento, homogeneidad cultural y muerte del campesinado ante la llegada de la lógica urbano-industrial, consumista y moderna al campo. Las ruedas, que representan el universo infantil, nos permiten notar cómo las economías simbólicas se apropian de los objetos concebidos bajo prácticas modernas, creando materialidades a partir de la reutilización, las cuales se resisten a la imposición consumista.O texto aborda a cultura material dos camponeses do sertão a partir das rodinhas de chinelos que são produzidas enquanto materialidades criativas que invertem funções presumidas de produtos industrializados no âmbito de lógicas camponesas. A abordagem é arqueológica, diacrônica e regional para analisar o refugo de unidades domésticas entre Ceará, Piauí e Pernambuco. Parte-se da crítica aos discursos de pobreza, isolamento, homogeneidade cultural e morte do campesinato frente à chegada de lógicas urbano-industriais, consumistas e modernas ao campo.
