O presente trabalho, desenvolvido no âmbito do Mestrado em Ciências da Educação, com especialização em Supervisão Pedagógica, aborda as temáticas da supervisão pedagógica e da liderança escolar. Com este estudo pretendemos averiguar qual a perceção de liderança escolar à luz das representações dos professores das escolas do 1º Ciclo do Ensino Básico (1ºCEB), do concelho da Ribeira Brava, na Região Autónoma da Madeira (RAM). Neste âmbito, um estudo baseado nesta temática parece importante, útil, de grande pertinência e atualidade pela força que a liderança e a procura de sucesso exercem na sociedade em que vivemos. Realçamos que com este estudo conseguimos apurar as perceções da liderança escolar à luz das representações dos docentes do 1º CEB, da Ribeira Brava, na RAM. Os inquiridos confirmaram o papel de destaque conferido ao diretor escolar na gestão dos estabelecimentos escolares e a sua influência nos resultados dos alunos. O estilo de liderança identificado pelos participantes resulta da combinação entre as características do modelo de Liderança Situacional e da Liderança partilhada. A liderança vigente nos estabelecimentos escolares da Ribeira Brava direciona-se para uma Liderança Facilitadora, dado que tenta envolver os docentes e leva-os a participar na tomada de decisões.ABSTRACT The present work, developed in the context of Master's Degree in Education Sciences, with a specialization in Educational Supervision, tackles the issues of pedagogical supervision and school leadership. With this study we want to investigate what perceiving than of school leadership in the light of representations of teachers in the schools of the 1ST Cycle of Basic Education (1) thereof CEB), the municipality of Ribeira Brava, in the Autonomous Region of Madeira (RAM). In this context, a study based on this issue seems important, useful, of great relevance and actuality by virtue that the leadership and the quest for success exercise in society in which we live. We emphasize that in this study we investigate the perceptions of school leadership in light of representations of teachers of 1 CEB, Ribeira Brava, in RAM. The respondents confirmed the role of emphasis given to school director in the management of educational institutions and their influence on the results of the students. The style of leadership identified by participants resulting from the combination between the characteristics of the model of Situational Leadership and shared Leadership. The current leadership in educational establishments of Ribeira Brava directs to a Leadership Facilitator, since it tries to involve the teachers and leads them to participate in decision making.
