Summary: <p>The transverse polarization of <inline-formula><mml:math display="inline"><mml:mi mathvariant="normal">Λ</mml:mi></mml:math></inline-formula> and <inline-formula><mml:math display="inline"><mml:mover accent="true"><mml:mi mathvariant="normal">Λ</mml:mi><mml:mo accent="true" stretchy="false">¯</mml:mo></mml:mover></mml:math></inline-formula> hyperons produced in proton-proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 7 TeV is measured. The analysis uses <inline-formula><mml:math display="inline"><mml:mrow><mml:mn>760</mml:mn><mml:mtext> </mml:mtext><mml:mtext> </mml:mtext><mml:mi>μ</mml:mi><mml:msup><mml:mrow><mml:mi mathvariant="normal">b</mml:mi></mml:mrow><mml:mrow><mml:mo>-</mml:mo><mml:mn>1</mml:mn></mml:mrow></mml:msup></mml:mrow></mml:math></inline-formula> of minimum bias data collected by the ATLAS detector at the LHC in the year 2010.
