Novas perspetivas surgiram sobre a forma de conservar no futuro tornando-se essencial intervir com o objetivo de prolongar o existente, mantendo a sua identidade e linguagem. Neste sentido é necessário ter conhecimento sobre temas relacionados com a conservação da pré-existência, desde as teorias e cartas até aos fatores em torno da problemática de intervenção, que juntamente com a realização de uma análise coerente do edifício, possibilita a reutilização de antigas estruturas. Estes parâmetros foram abordados nesta dissertação, através da análise e reflecção de documentos, artigos e estudos realizados na área da intervenção do edificado de possível valor patrimonial, sendo expostas duas intervenção distintas, que convergem para o mesmo objetivo, a relação e respeito pela pré-existência. O caso de estudo ‘proposta de intervenção em Melgaço’ é o ponto de união dos parâmetros abordados, interligando a teoria à prática, onde é realizada uma reabilitação, com a intenção de criação de uma casa de estudantes, requerendo uma abordagem única que valorize não só o edifício mas também o meio onde este se insere. Esta dissertação pretende realçar a importância do debate em torno da Estratégia de Reabilitação do Edifício Pré-Existente, no sentido de criar orientações para a preservação do edificado, intervindo de maneira sustentável.The Strategy for the Pre-Existent Building Rehabilitation has been suffering changes through ages. New perspectives appeared about the way to conserve it in the future, becoming essential to achieve the goal of “prolong” the existent, keeping its identity and language. On this way, it is necessary to have knowledge on topics related with the preexistence, from theories and letters to the factors surrounding the issue of intervention which mixed with a coherent analysis of the building, can make possible the reuse of old structures. These parameters were talked about in this dissertation, through the analysis and reflection on documents, articles and studies made about the building with a possible patrimonial value. Are exhibited two distinct interventions, which converge toward the same goal: the relation and respect for the pre-existence. The case study ‘proposal of intervention in Melgaço’ it´s the junction of the discussed parameters, linking theory to practice, which is carried out rehabilitation with the objective of creating a students’ house, requiring a unique approach that values not only the building but also the place in which it occurs.
