Summary: | The article analyses precarious work among the young people in the 27 EU member states. It seeks to contribute to an understanding of the conditions relating to the integration of young people into the labour market in three decades (precisely, in 1988, 1998 and 2008), from a perspective that compares the countries. The information is derived from Eurostat sources; as its central indicator it takes the rate of temporary work and the interrelations between the young people’s qualification levels and the reasons cited for being in temporary work. A multivariate analysis was carried out: principal components analysis for categorical data (CatPCA). This allows us to present the differences between European Union countries, as well as the link between education and labour-market integration processes. |

La fuente de información es el Eurostat y utiliza, como indicador central, la tasa de trabajo temporal y las inter-relaciones entre niveles de habilidades de los jóvenes y razones invocadas para tener un trabajo temporal. Fue realizada a partir de un análisis multivariado: principal components analysis for categorical data (CatPCA). El análisis realizado permite evidenciar diferencias entre países de la Unión Europea y la articulación entre los procesos de escolarización y de integración en el mercado de trabajo.L’article analyse la précarité de l’emploi des jeunes dans les 27 pays de l’UE, afin de contribuer à la compréhension des conditions d’insertion des jeunes dans le marché du travail, selon une approche comparée entre les pays sur trois décennies (1988, 1998 et 2008). La source d’information est l’Eurostat, en utilisant comme indicateur central le taux de travail temporaire et les liens entre niveaux d’études des jeunes et les raisons invoquées pour avoir un emploi temporaire.
