Our theme emerges from the interest in objectual artistic pieces imbued with movement, especially those object-machines or mechanisms that convey a certain poetic atmosphere. Ours is a brief review covering the appearance of mechanical and mobile elements in art, from the period of the avantgardes to their continued, contemporary presence. At a time, our time, dominated by technology, the screen, the digital and the virtual this approach presupposes a brief retrospective look. The gaze of fascination with the mechanical, with the precarious artefacts, gadgets or machines, as well as the interest in the real presence and direct experience of self-involved objects and mechanisms, governed by a movement that is often fragile and unstable.
