Summary: On July 15, 2022, one hundred years have passed since the disappearance of António Aurélio da Costa Ferreira. The importance of the intervention he maintained in the educational field, but also in science, namely in medicine, justifies the dissemination of his work, but the truth is that this event went completely unnoticed in the academic environment dedicated to the history of education in Portugal. This article aims to rescue aspects of his life and work, one hundred years after his death. We deliberately start from the echoes of his early disappearance in the periodical press and in Parliament to remember, later, his political and scientific action, but also as a trainer of future teachers, at the Escola Normal Primária de Lisboa, in Benfica. Although information on this last dimension is scarce, his role as a specialist in the work around child development fits in and, no less important, his legacy is noted at the current Escola Superior de Educação de Lisboa, in the field of Special Education.

La importancia de la intervención que mantuvo en el campo educativo, pero también en la ciencia, concretamente en la medicina, justifica la difusión de su obra, pero lo cierto es que este hecho pasó completamente desapercibido en el ambiente académico dedicado a la historia de la educación en Portugal. El objetivo principal de este artículo es rescatar aspectos de su vida y obra, en el centenario de su muerte. Partimos deliberadamente de los ecos de su temprana desaparición en la prensa periódica y en el Parlamento para recordar, después, su acción política y científica, pero también como professor de formación en la Escola Normal Primaria de Lisboa, en Benfica. Aunque la información sobre esta última dimensión es escasa, cabe su papel como especialista en el trabajo en torno al desarrollo infantil y, no menos importante, se deja constancia de su legado en la actual Escola Superior de Educação de Lisboa, en el campo de la Educación Especial.Le 15 juillet 2022, cent ans se sont écoulés depuis la disparition d'António Aurélio da Costa Ferreira. L'importance de l'intervention qu'il a maintenue dans le domaine de l'éducation, mais aussi de la science, notamment de la médecine, justifie la diffusion de son travail, mais la vérité est que cet événement est passé complètement inaperçu dans le milieu universitaire dédié à l'histoire de l'éducation au Portugal. L'objectif principal de cet article est de sauver des aspects de sa vie et de son travail, qui a marqué le centenaire de sa mort. On part délibérément des échos de sa disparition précoce dans la presse périodique et au Parlement pour se souvenir, plus tard, de son action politique et scientifique, mais aussi en tant qu'enseignant qui forme de futurs enseignants, à l'Escola Normal Primaria de Lisboa, à Benfica. Bien que les informations sur cette dernière dimension soient rares, son rôle de spécialiste du travail autour du développement de l'enfant s'inscrit et, non moins important, son héritage est noté à l'actuelle Escola Superior de Educação de Lisboa, dans le domaine de l'éducation spéciale.No dia 15 de julho de 2022 cumpriram-se cem anos desde o desaparecimento de António Aurélio da Costa Ferreira. A importância da intervenção que manteve no campo educativo, mas também na ciência, nomeadamente na medicina, justifica a divulgação da sua obra, mas a verdade é que esta efeméride passou totalmente despercebida no meio académico dedicado à história da educação em Portugal. Este artigo tem como principal objetivo resgatar aspetos da sua vida e obra, cumprido que foi o centenário da sua morte. Partimos, deliberadamente, dos ecos do seu precoce desaparecimento na imprensa periódica e no Parlamento para lembrar, depois, a sua ação política e científica, mas também enquanto docente formador de futuros professores, na Escola Normal Primária de Lisboa, em Benfica.
