Neste sentido, o presente estudo pretendia investigar a relação entre a liderança transformacional, o burnout e o engagement na Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Arcos de Valdevez. A amostra foi composta por 61 trabalhadores desta instituição, com idades compreendidas entre os 21 e os 64 anos. Os participantes responderam primeiro a um questionário sóciodemográfico, seguindo-se o Questionário Multifatorial da Liderança, o Maslach Burnout Inventory-General Survey e, por fim, o Ultrech Work Engagement Scale-9, todos eles adaptados para a população portuguesa. Os resultados mostraram que existe uma relação positiva entre a liderança transformacional e o engagement, indicando que a presença de um líder transformacional aumenta os níveis de engagement. A investigação revelou ainda uma relação negativa entre o engagement e o burnout, sendo que a maiores níveis de engagement estão associados baixos níveis de burnout.Currently, the concepts of leadership, burnout and engagement have been increasingly studied because of their importance in the organizational context. In this sense, the present study aimed to investigate the relationship between transformational leadership, burnout and engagement in the Santa Casa da Misericórdia in Arcos de Valdevez. The sample consisted of 61 employees of this institution, aged between 21 and 64 years old. Participants answered a sociodemographic questionnaire, the Multifactorial Questionnaire for Leadership, the Maslach Burnout Inventory-General Survey and the Ultrech Work Engagement Scale-9, all of which were adapted for the Portuguese population. The results showed that there is a positive relationship between transformational leadership and engagement, indicating that the presence of a transformational leader increases levels of engagement.
