Comportamento parental em mães seropositivas

O objectivo é construir um modelo teórico sobre o comportamento parental em mães seropositivas. Foram analisadas, de acordo com o método Grounded Theory, vinte e uma entrevistas semi-estruturadas de mães infectadas com VIH, sendo que catorze das entrevistas pertencem a três estudos realizados anteriormente. As mães têm idades compreendidas entre os 18 e os 44 anos, tendo pelo menos um filho com menos de 6 anos. Os dados obtidos revelaram uma grande focalização das mães, nos seus filhos. Esta focalização aparece, como resposta às preocupações vividas desde o momento que tomaram conhecimento do seu diagnóstico, sendo uma das mais verbalizadas pelas mães, o receio de não ver crescer as crianças. Deste modo, dedicam- -se totalmente aos filhos, são mães presentes, estabelecem uma relação próxima com a criança, são mais responsáveis, ou seja, segundo elas tornam-se mais mães. Planeiam com uma maior antecedência o futuro, ensinam os filhos e escolhem uma segunda mãe. ------ ABSTRACT ------ The goal is the construction of a theoretical model to explain the parental behaviour of mothers infected with HIV. Twenty one semi-structured interviews were analysed, according to the Grounded Theory method; fourteen of these belong to three previous studies. The mothers are aged between 18 and 44 years and they have at least one child with less than 6 years old. The data obtained revealed that the mothers are very focused on their children. This happens as an answer to the concerns they experience since their diagnose. One of the most expressed concerns is the mothers` fear of not being able to see their children grow up. Therefore, the mothers totally dedicate themselves to their children, are always present, establish a close relationship with them and are more responsible. According to them, they became “more mothers”. They plan the future with more antecedence, teach their children and choose a second mother.
