Falar de educação em contexto escolar é falar do meio onde a identidade das novas gerações está a ser construído. A Escola funciona pois como um catalisador do ambiente físico, social, familiar e cultural onde os jovens estão imersos: processa valores, ideais e simultaneamente reflecte e influencia a construção da identidade individual. Mas, o que constitui estas identidades? Serão meramente um reflexo do meio envolvente ou mudam de geração para geração e de acordo com a respectiva nacionalidade? A nossa reflexão neste artigo visa clarificar estas questões pertinentes uma vez que é inato a qualquer ser humano o sentimento de pertença a grupos e espaços. A nossa análise incidirá sobre população estudante de dois países europeus, ambos membros da Comunidade Europeia: Polónia e Portugal. To talk about education in school context is to talk about the milieu where the identity of the young generations is being built. School will thus act as a catalizer of the physical, social, familiar and cultural environment where the teenagers are immersed: it processes values, ideas and simultaneously reflects and influences the construction of the individual’s identity. But, what constitutes these “identities”? Are they merely a reflection of the surrounding social and cultural milieu or do they change from generation to generation and according to one’s nationality? Our reflections in this article aim at clarifying these pertinent questions once it is innate to any human being the feeling of belonging to groups and spaces. Our analysis will be based on student population of two European countries within the European Union: Poland and Portugal.
