A Obesidade Infantil é um importante problema de saúde pública. A prevalência da obesidade em idade pediátrica tem vindo a aumentar em todo o mundo, inclusive em Portugal, sendo este um dos países europeus com uma maior taxa. É considerada como uma doença nutricional complexa, de origem multifatorial, com a particularidade de condicionar a ocorrência de um conjunto de outras doenças. A prevenção desta patologia é sempre o método mais eficaz de tratamento, devendo ser a primeira linha de atuação, de modo a controlar as proporções já alcançadas por esta epidemia. The Childhood Obesity is a major public health problem. The prevalence of obesity in children is increasing worldwide, including in Portugal, being one of the European countries with a higher rate. It is considered as a nutritional disease complex, multifactorial origin with the particular condition of the occurrence of a number of other diseases. The prevention of this condition is always the most effective method of treatment, and should be the first line of management so as to control the proportions already achieved by this epidemic.
