Resumo: | Carbon monoxide poisoning is one of the main causes of poisoning worldwide. Initial symptoms include headaches, dizziness, weakness, nausea, confusion, and visual changes. Oxygen therapy in a hyperbaric chamber can be considered in the treatment. The case of a 31-year-old female patient with no relevant medical history is presented. In less than a month, she was observed at the health primary center, with symptoms of headache and, later, syncope. At the last appointment, she was accompanied by her spouse, with similar symptoms, causing the suspicion of possible carbon monoxide poisoning. Both were referred to the emergency department, where diagnosis and treatment with a hyperbaric chamber were carried out. Headaches and syncope are very non-specific symptoms but with potentially emerging causes. Collecting a complete clinical history, timely diagnosis and treatment, and improving the prognosis are essential. |
