Digital platforms are increasingly embedded in today's society and, as a result, have been unleashing a new digital age which, in turn, will act as an input to a new reality with regard to all kinds of transactions. In this sense, this dissertation falls within the scope of the study of digital platforms, aiming at understanding its success factors and evaluation methods. The study of these points will stand as a solid base, allowing for the development a of a methodology for the evaluation and validation of platforms. Consequently, it is intended to develop a comprehensive methodology that will help the design of digital platforms through measurable factors and indicators throughout its life cycle. In this way, a study, about the environment involving digital platforms was carried out, with a particular emphasis on the area of information systems, in order to understand the crucial parameters to be taken into account in the development of appropriate evaluation processes. In another aspect, this study also focused on the collection of essential elements for the design and development of digital platforms targeted to the industry. In conclusion, the project focuses on highlighting both the importance and need to evaluate and validate digital platforms, in order to actively contribute to the decrease of subjectivity in the design process of these artefacts.
