O património imaterial tem sido um pilar importante para atrair mais turistas e visitantes aos destinos. A classificação da UNESCO atribuída a determinado património imaterial de uma localidade tem contribuído para o desenvolvimento do turismo de muitas regiões. Mas também é um fator para preservar e dinamizar o património imaterial. A cidade de Estremoz possui um património imaterial, reconhecido pela UNESCO, que através da sua promoção, pode contribuir para a melhoria da imagem do concelho como destino turístico. A presente dissertação pretende analisar o contributo dos bonecos de Estremoz, após o reconhecimento da UNESCO, para a promoção do destino. Assim, e para atingir os objetivos da investigação, optou-se por seguir uma abordagem qualitativa através da aplicação de entrevistas aos produtores dos bonecos de Estremoz. Os resultados mostraram que os Bonecos de Estremoz têm um papel importante na promoção turística do concelho; Tourism and Intangible Heritage: The case of the Estremoz Dolls ABSTRACT: Intangible heritage has been an important pillar in attracting more tourists and visitors to destinations. The UNESCO classification assigned to a certain intangible heritage of a locality has contributed to the development of tourism in many regions. But it is also a factor for preserving and boosting intangible heritage. The city of Estremoz has an intangible heritage, recognized by UNESCO, which, through its promotion, can contribute to the improvement of the county's image as a tourist destination. This dissertation aims to analyze the contribution of the dolls of Estremoz, after the recognition of UNESCO, for the promotion of the destination. Thereby, and to achieve the research objectives, we chose to follow a qualitative approach through the application of interviews to the producers of the dolls of Estremoz. The results showed that the dolls of Estremoz play an important role in the tourist promotion of the municipality.
