It presents a framework for understanding and managing the integration of AI technologies in PM.Design/methodology/approach – The study includes a systematic literature review and bibliographic analysis to identify and analyze the main dimensions of PM where AI can be effectively applied. Various AI tools based on machine learning, natural language processing, and other algorithms are highlighted, detailing their specific applications in the different PM dimensions. Based on the findings of this study, a conceptual framework for the application of AI in PM was developed.Findings – The research identifies the benefits and challenges associated with the implementation of AI in PM. The conceptual framework offers insights into how AI is transforming PM field.Research limitations/implications – The research is primarily based on existing literature and thus may not encompass all practical nuances and/or rely in AI enthusiastic literature. Future research is suggested to further validate and refine the conceptual framework with empirical data.Practical implications – The findings provide guidance for practitioners and scholars in leveraging AI for enhanced PM.Originality/value – This dissertation contributes to the PM field by demonstrating a proposed framework for integrating AI, highlighting its transformative potential and providing valuable insights for managing digital transformation in PM.Propósito – Esta dissertação de mestrado explora as aplicações atuais e o potencial da inteligência artificial (IA) na área da gestão de projetos (GP). Apresenta também um esquema para melhor entender e gerir a integração das tecnologias de IA na GP.Desenho/metodologia/abordagem – O estudo inclui uma revisão sistemática da literatura e uma análise bibliográfica para identificar e analisar as principais dimensões da GP onde a IA pode ser efetivamente aplicada. Diversas ferramentas de IA baseadas em machine learning, processamento de linguagem natural e outros algoritmos são destacadas, detalhando as suas específicas aplicações nas diferentes dimensões da GP. Com base nos resultados deste estudo, foi desenvolvido um esquema conceptual para a aplicação da IA na GP.Resultados – A pesquisa identifica os benefícios e os desafios associados à implementação da IA na GP. O esquema conceptual oferece perceções sobre como a IA está a transformar a GP.Limitações/implicações da pesquisa – A pesquisa baseia-se principalmente na literatura existente e, portanto, pode não abranger todas as nuances práticas e/ou depender de literatura entusiasta sobre IA.
