Bemposta é uma das freguesias de Mogadouro, Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro, com maior riqueza e diversidade a nível cultural, arquitectónico e do ecossistema. Com uma identidade local bem definida, mas que tende a perder-se/desvanecer-se com o tempo e como consequência do abandono da região, torna-se urgente o desenvolvimento de estratégias que visem a protecção e salvaguarda do seu património rural, seja arquitectónico ou cultural. A actual e crescente aposta no turismo rural tem incentivado o desenvolvimento das áreas rurais, atribuindo importância ao património arquitectónico e cultural e à preservação do ambiente, entre outros factores. Uma vez que a degradação patrimonial em Bemposta é significativa, para que o turismo tenha o desenvolvimento pretendido, a recuperação do património e revitalização das aldeias deve guiar-se pelos princípios orientadores do lugar. A arquitectura vernacular reflecte a cultura, a localização geográfica e os factores climáticos da região, recorrendo à reutilização de materiais regionais e ao aperfeiçoamento e adequação das técnicas construtivas antigas. Estas escolhas fazem com que actualmente se considere a arquitectura vernacular como sustentável. Com o conhecimento adquirido relativamente à contextualização e às características principais do território, procura-se uma intervenção arquitectónica sustentável e que respeite simultaneamente o Génius Locí de Bemposta. O ensaio projectual é desenvolvido tendo em conta a valorização do património e o seu contributo para o desenvolvimento sustentável da região, tendo em conta valores da arquitectura do lugar. Assim, pretende-se que a implementação de um programa em Bemposta impulsione a dinamização da freguesia, no âmbito do projecto Aldeias de Portugal.Abstract: The objective of this research is to understand the importance and the role of vernacular architecture for sustainable development of rural areas. Bemposta is one place of Mogadouro, Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro, with the biggest richness and cultural, architectonic and ecosystem diversity. With a distinct local identity, but that tends to get lost with time and as a consequence of the abandonment of the region, it turns urgent the development of strategies that objectify the protection and safeguarding of their rural heritage, whether architectural or cultural. The current and growing investment in rural tourism has encouraged the development of the rural areas, attaching importance to the architectural and cultural heritage and preservation of the environment, among other factors. Once the heritage degradation in Bemposta is significant, so that tourism has the desired development, recovery of heritage and revitalization of villages should be guided by the guiding principles of the place. The vernacular architecture reflects culture, geographical location and climatic factors in the area, using the re-use of regional materials and the improvement and adaptation of the ancient building techniques. These choices make currently considered the vernacular architecture as sustainable. With the knowledge gained regarding the context and the principal’s characteristics of the territory, looking one sustainable architectural intervention and which still respects the Génius Locí of Bemposta. The trial project developed taking into account the appreciation of the heritage and its contribution to sustainable development in the region, taking into account the values of the architecture of the place.
