O clero junto ao rei. De D. Duarte a Alfarrobeira (1433-1449)

As relações entre a realeza e a clerezia apresentam-se como uma temática que tem sido abordada segundo diversas perspetivas para diferentes períodos cronológicos: ora defensoras do poder da igreja, ora defensoras do processo de colocação da realeza no centro da vida política. Falta-nos conhecer mais aprofundadamente o comportamento do clero em períodos de crises políticas como a que ocorreu entre 1438 e 1449. Propomos abordar este tema segundo uma perspetiva de história política e social analisando a presença do clero junto à realeza e a intervenção política da realeza junto à clerezia entre o reinado de D. Duarte (1433-1438) e a Batalha de Alfarrobeira (1449). Neste quadro, procuraremos enquadrar as dinâmicas socio-clericais na conjuntura pós cisma do Ocidente e pós crise de 1383-85 com especial ênfase para o período compreendido entre o fim da era joanina e o fim do «período das regências»; The Clergy with the King: From D. Duarte to Alfarrobeira Abstract: The relationship between royalty and clergy is presented as a theme that has been approached from different perspectives for different chronological periods: sometimes defenders of the power of the church, sometimes defenders of the process of placing royalty at the center of political life. We still need to know more about the behavior of the clergy in periods of political crises such as the one that occurred between 1438 and 1449. We propose to approach this topic from a perspective of political and social history, analysing the presence of the clergy with royalty and the political intervention of royalty next to the clergy between the reign of D. Duarte (1433-1438) and the Battle of Alfarrobeira (1449). In this context, we will try to frame the socio-clerical dynamics in the post-Western schism and after the 1383-85 crisis, with special emphasis on the period between the end of the Johannine era and the end of the «period of regencies».
