Este trabalho apresenta como tema “O Movimento e Manobra na campanha militar do Teatro de Operações da Guiné-Bissau (1963-1974)", um assunto de relevância para o Exército Português. Como objetivo principal pretende-se cruzar a doutrina atual relativamente à função de combate Movimento e Manobra com as operações no Teatro de Operações (TO) da Guiné-Bissau no período de 1963 a 1974 procurando relacioná-los. Para esta análise, esta função de combate é analisada segundo os conceitos e tarefas que lhe correspondem atualmente por forma a ser possível identificar correspondência ou semelhanças com a aplicação desta função de combate no TO da Guiné-Bissau. Inicialmente, caracteriza-se a doutrina atual relativamente à função de combate Movimento e Manobra e a doutrina existente no período em estudo, e seguidamente apresenta-se a organização, dispositivo e tipologia de forças de manobra presentes no TO permitindo identificar conceitos e tarefas relativos ao conceito atual desta função de combate. A realização de uma entrevista e consulta de arquivos primários permitiram uma sustentação da metodologia de análise. No final é analisada uma operação de grande envergadura, a Operação Mar Verde que foi executada em 1970, onde se analisam as várias componentes relativamente ao Movimento e Manobra. Nas conclusões é possível identificar que os conceitos e tarefas da função de combate em estudo são identificadas naquele TO, sendo algumas mais evidentes que outras. Abstract: This work presents the theme "The warfighting function Movement and Manoeuvre in the Military Campaign of the Theater of Operations of Guinea-Bissau (1963-1974)", a subject of relevance for the Portuguese Army. The main objective is to cross the current doctrine regarding the Movement and Manoeuvre warfighting function with the operations in Guinea-Bissau in the period from 1963 to 1974 seeking to relate them. For this analysis, this warfighting function is analysed according to the concepts and tasks that currently correspond to it in order to be able to identify correspondence or similarities with the application of this warfighting function in the theater of operations of Guinea-Bissau. Initially, the current doctrine regarding the Combat and Maneuver warfighting function and the existing doctrine in the period under study is characterized, and then the organization, formation and typology of maneuvering forces present in the theater of operations are presented, allowing to identify concepts and tasks related to this warfighting function concept. The accomplishment of an interview and consultation of primary archives allowed an additional base for the analysis methodology. At the end, a large-scale operation in 1970, the “Mar Verde” Operation, is analyzed, analyzing the various components in relation to the Movement and Maneuver warfighting funtion. In the conclusions, it is possible to identify that the concepts and tasks of the warfighting function under study are identified in that theatre of operations, some being more evident than others.
